In early August, the onset of a new season brought a series of catastrophic accidents. Subsequently, a gas explosion occurred in Kaohsiung, Taiwan; an explosion struck a factory in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province; and an earthquake hit Zhaotong, Yunnan Province.

　　In early August, the onset of a new season brought with it a series of catastrophic incidents: a gas explosion in Kaohsiung, Taiwan; an explosion at a factory in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province; and an earthquake in Zhaotong, Yunnan. Now, efforts are underway to build a safer city! To mark this milestone, the second stop of the “9th Global Digital Security Forum (GDSF)” will be held on August 5, under the theme “Intelligent Interpretation of New Security, Smart Security, Redesign, and the Construction of a New Security Paradigm.”

　　The 2014 GDSF Chengdu Conference brought together key issues in safe city development and used smart city-building expertise as a starting point to explore the future of intelligent security. Renowned industry experts and senior security professionals were invited to provide a comprehensive analysis of how information technology can be leveraged to effectively enhance urban management services.
