Industrial lighting

Core Requirements and Challenges of Industrial Lighting

Unlike residential or commercial lighting, industrial environments have more stringent requirements for lighting:

High illuminance and uniformity: Precise assembly, quality inspection, and other tasks require sufficient and uniform lighting to avoid shadows that could cause visual fatigue and errors.

Color Rendering Index (CRI) A high color rendering index (typically requiring Ra > 80) can accurately reproduce the true colors of objects, making it crucial for quality inspection and distinguishing between different wire colors, among other applications.

Reliability & Durability: Industrial environments often feature vibration, dust, humidity, corrosive gases, or extreme temperatures; therefore, luminaires must have high protection ratings (IP ratings) and excellent impact resistance.

Energy-saving and long-lasting: Industrial lighting typically operates 24 hours a day, resulting in substantial electricity costs. Therefore, luminaires with high luminous efficacy and long lifespans can significantly reduce operating costs.

Safety and Emergency: It is essential to ensure adequate lighting under all circumstances—including in the event of a main power failure—to prevent safety incidents. This includes emergency lighting and evacuation guidance systems.

Explosion-proof and Protective: In places where flammable and explosive gases are present, such as oil refineries, chemical plants, and mines, it is mandatory to use specialized explosion-proof lighting fixtures.
